The closing lines, “I’ll defeat my fear with pride / And I will finally win on my battleground”, bring the song to a clear conclusion. After questioning how to face her fears throughout the track, Jena ends by choosing to face them rather than run from them.
As her first release under the name Jena, “battleground” sets out her direction clearly. It is a personal song about fear, acceptance and learning that putting your guard down does not mean giving up. For a debut, it makes a striking introduction and leaves Jena with plenty of room to build from here.
